Collingwood's Tarni White Disputes Suspension at AFLW Tribunal
Tarni White's Punishment
Collingwood AFLW midfielder Tarni White faces a challenge of her three-game suspension at the AFLW Tribunal. The ban stems from a late bump on Sydney's Maddy Collier during the season opener, leaving Collier concussed.
Timing and Impact
The tribunal hearing will take place this week, with the exact timing yet to be announced. If the suspension stands, White will miss more than a quarter of the 11-game AFLW regular season.
Altercation and Melee
The incident involving White and Collier sparked a melee between the two teams. Tensions escalated in the third quarter after two major clashes within 30 seconds.
Additional Suspensions
Along with White, two other players received suspensions:
- Essendon's Ellyse Gamble was banned for one match for high contact on Fremantle's Aisling McCarthy.
- North Melbourne's Alice O'Loughlin received a one-game ban for a rough tackle on Brisbane's Shannon Campbell in the Grand Final rematch.
O'Loughlin and Gamble have accepted their suspensions and will miss their team's AFLW Week 2 matches.
Fines
Six players also received fines across the weekend's AFLW fixtures.
