Payne was substituted out of the Lions' elimination final victory against Carlton due to an apparent knee injury. However, scans on Monday revealed no major damage, raising the possibility of his availability for Saturday's game.

Co-captain Harris Andrews acknowledged Payne's crucial role in the Lions' defense, describing him as "very important" and a key contributor to their success.
"His ability to compete hard and buy into our system is sensational," Andrews said.
Potential Replacements
Despite Payne's importance, the Lions have demonstrated their depth in the backline, with Darragh Joyce and Shadeau Brain capable of filling the void if necessary.
Joyce has performed admirably in the VFL, collecting 12 marks in a semi-final victory last weekend. Brain has also shown promise in his nine games at the AFL level.

The Lions will face Greater Western Sydney in a knockout final at the Giants' home ground. The two sides have split their previous four encounters at the Sydney venue, with two wins each.
