Stephen Coniglio and Kieren Briggs Embrace Injury Challenges Ahead of Finals
Coniglio's Shoulder Battle
Stephen Coniglio, the Greater Western Sydney star, has suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for ten games this season. However, he made a strong return against Fremantle on Saturday, proving that the injury won't hinder his performance.
"Bring it on, I feel great," Coniglio declared. "I had extensive rehabilitation, and I wouldn't be playing if I wasn't confident."
Despite his persistent shoulder issue, Coniglio has no qualms about facing extra attention from opponents.
Briggs' Pain Management
Ruckman Kieren Briggs is also battling a shoulder injury, which forced him to miss a game against Brisbane. He suffered visible discomfort during the recent win over Fremantle but opted to continue playing, suggesting that he will endure the pain for the remainder of the season.
"It's not likely that I'll have surgery at the end of the season," Briggs stated. "Structurally, it's okay, so I just need to tolerate the pain."
Giants' Success and Individual Accolades
With a top-four spot secured, the Giants are aiming for an eighth consecutive victory against the Bulldogs on Sunday. This winning streak coincides with a surge in individual performances.
Jesse Hogan is a strong contender for the Coleman Medal and All-Australian selection, while Lachie Whitfield is also being considered. Midfielder Tom Green and forward Brent Daniels are also in contention for All-Australian honors.
Waning Rivalry with Bulldogs
The Giants' rivalry with the Western Bulldogs has diminished slightly since its peak in 2016 and 2017. However, Coniglio acknowledges that the upcoming match remains important.
"It's a different dynamic now," Coniglio said. "But it's still a big game against a top team, and we're excited about what the month ahead holds."
